CLUB 2- up - BRICKENDON
GREEN - 9.1 MILES - SUNDAY 18th APRIL
On
Sunday Paul Groves and Richard Somerset started the first club event of
the 2004 for the North Road Cycling Club, the annual Two-up Spring
“10” Time Trial, changing the venue from Burnham Green to Brickendon
Green.
It was not a good day for Paul, he arrived at the headquarters finding a
puncture, quickly changing the tube, got to start and traveled 200 yards
and the same wheel punctured, Richard carried on his own.
Despite
the cold, windy, and a short break from the rain it did not stop 13
riders taking part.
A fast ride from Tony Bradford, partnered by guest rider from Team
Welwyn, Paul Carter, came past the time keeper in 24:16, taking 49
seconds out of second place George Olive and Andy Lancaster. In third
place was Nick Harris riding with Bruce Metheringham in a time of 27:05.
These were followed by Chris Glithero, riding solo, in 27:32, husband
and wife pair, Marsha and Paul Jenkins in a time of 29:56. Richard
finished in 31:51, who is still recovering from a virus. Two guest
riders from CC Islington, Mark Jarman and A. Mendelsohn rode the circuit
in a time of 28:25.
