RACE 15 - 1st Aug

 

Back on the original circuit for North Road Cycling Club’s Round 15 Ken Davis Salver at Brickendon Green. In blustery conditions, 21 riders competed in the popular event. Despite the wind, Dave Candy still took the 30 points with a time of 23 minutes, and the overall winner of the night. He was followed by the 2004 champion, Darren Rochford in a time of 23:22, just two seconds in front of Bruce Metheringham. Father and daughter, David Sperrin and Gemma rode a two-up.

RACE 14 - 25th July

 

Race route changed due to loose chippings in Bayford. Distance approx 11 miles

 

It was another hot night for the North Road Cycling Club Brickendon Green “10”, 26 riders competing including 14 North Roaders in Round 14 of the Ken Davis Salver. Resurfacing caused another change of course, using White Stubbs Lane with the Bayford part out of action. It was normal service for Dave Candy, he collected the 30 points with a time of 24:40. Runner up went to Bruce Metheringham only 14 seconds away from Dave. Eric Jewell rode his first Brickendon Green event for 2006. The overall winner was Paul Parker (Blue Sky Cycles) coming past the time keeper in 23:52.

RACE 13 - 18th July

 

Despite being one of the hottest days on record, thirty three riders competed in the North Road Cycling Club’s Brickendon Green “10” with 20 North Roaders competing in Round 13 of the Ken Davis Salver. Round 13 was not unlucky for Bruce Metheringham, he rode his personal best and took the thirty points, with his time of 22:27, knocking six seconds off his PB. He also took eight seconds out of the Ken Davis Salver leader, Dave Candy. Mike Bridge, riding his first ride on the circuit, rode well and took the 25 points. Also riding their PBs were Chris Symonds and Tony Shoesmith. Another good ride from Paul Groves, again beating his best time for over three years. Also riding their best times were John McDowall and Jim Ewers. The overall winner on the night was Mike Broadwith (Arctic-Rochford Shorter) with a fast time of 20:13, beating former North Roader Craig Simpson (Blue Sky Cycles) by six seconds.

RACE 12 - 11th July

 

On another good night for racing in Round 12 of North Road Cycling Club’s Ken Davis Salver at Brickendon Green, Dave Candy triumphed again to take maximum points finishing the circuit in 22:15. Bruce Metheringham, having a good season, equalled his personal best time, he crossed the finishing line in 22:33. Also equalling his PB was Chris Symonds, he came past the time keeper in 23:14. Glyn Teare rode his best time of the year and Paul Groves recorded his best time for three years, in 28:05. Unfortunately, Jim Ewers went off course and did not finish. The overall winner on the night was Mark Allen (Orange Monkey) with a time of 21:39.

RACE 11 - 4th July

 

Round 11 of the North Road Cycling Club’s, Ken Davis Salver at Brickendon Green was a very hot night. Humidity made it hard for most of the 13 North Roaders and five guest riders. But this did not stop Bruce Metheringham taking second place; riding his personal best with a time of 22:54 just two seconds behind the Ken Davis Salver leader, Dave Candy, who was the runaway leader claiming his 10 out off eleven maximum points, he was also the overall winner of the night. Another good ride for Richard Somerset, just one second behind Bruce and four seconds adrift from Dave. Also claiming their PB’s, Nick Ison, Glyn Teare and Tony Shoesmith. Riding their best times for 2006 was Chris Symonds and Andy Lancaster.
