RACE 5 - 23rd May

Bayford course

Dave Candy continued his winning ways in the Ken Davis Salver competition by clinching his fifth successive victory in Round Five of the competition. Again roadworks meant the total mileage was increased to 11.75 miles, but Dave made light work of both this and the wet and windy conditions to take maximum points with a time of 29:45. An improved ride by Richard Somerset secured him 27 points for second place after an excellent time of 30:43. Darren Rochford took third place with two North Roaders riding their first Brickendon Green event – Joe Berritt and Mike Bridge – completing the course in creditable times.

RACE 4 - 16th May

Bayford course

It was business as usual for Dave Candy as he made it four wins out of four in the Ken Davis Salver. A change of route caused by drainage work – twice up Bayford Lane, increasing mileage to 11.75 – did nothing to hamper Dave as he finished Round Four with a time of 29:41 to take the maximum points haul of 30 and extend his league total to 120. Second past the time keeper was 2004 champion Darren Rochford in 30:42. Bruce Metheringham pipped George Olive for third spot by just one second.

RACE 1 - 26th April

Chris Symonds, who represented Ghana in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Australia, started the 2006 Ken Davis Salver competition at Brickendon Green. A good turnout of riders, 17 North Roaders and eight guest riders took part. With last year’s winner Roger Bishop missing, 2005 runner up – Dave Candy – took full advantage and stormed around the 9.3 mile circuit in 22:45, to take the first
30 points. Dave took 1 minute 19 seconds out of second place George Olive. Glyn Teare rode his first Salver event and came past the finishing line in 26:37. Two new North Roaders, Tristan Emptage and Nick Hunton, participated in their first event coming past the time keeper in 26:06 and 29:58 respectively. The winner was Paul Beales (Orange Monkey) in a fast time of 22:02.
