Rider Roger Bishop claimed North Road Cycling Club’s
2005 Ken Davis Salver with a round to spare. Roger was crowned series
champion, even though he did not participate in round 18. Dave Candy, his
nearest rival, unfortunately punctured and did not finish the course. This
allowed defending champion Darren Rochford to take his third victory of
the season coming past the time keeper in 23:13. Darren was 42 seconds
faster than second-placed George Olive. Third place went to Nick Ison,
with a time of 24:05. He was followed by Chris Glithero, who just beat
Leigh Taylor by one second, passing the finishing line in 24:52. Leigh
Slashed 25 seconds off her personal best with 24:53. She was followed by
Jim Ewers, Richard Norris, Don Hale, Ken Lush and Paul Groves. The overall
winner was Whitewebbs’ Mark Allen in a time of 22:30.

Twenty-four riders competed in

six, Dave Candy took the maximum points in Round eight with a time of
23:04. The recent winner of the Furzefield Triathlon in Potters Bar had
enough energy to complete another circuit of the course. The second time
round he managed to ride a time of 23:55. Dave was also the overall winner
on the night. Ten seconds behind was 2004 series winner Darren Rochford,
who crossed the finishing line in 23:14. George Olive collected 25 points
after finishing the circuit in a time two seconds inside 24 minutes.
Richard Somerset and John McDowall both finished with a time of 24:04 for
joint fourth place. Nick Ison rode his best time of the year with 24:56.
Junior member Will Page, on his second appearance of the season, knocked
50 seconds off his first ride, past the timekeeper in 26:37. He was joined
by Andy Lancaster, also riding his second ride of the year. He took 16
